I can't say I knew him well, but sad to say, the Heron is no more. We thought it seemed hungry and it has sadly expired.
- Still not time to take the net off the Koy pond though!

That's sad news - perhaps it had come down here from Clavering Lakes which were frozen I think in the cold spell. I heard a report that someone in Clavering had a Night Heron in their garden for 10 days in autumn - these are rare visitors, probably blown off course, he thought.
